Chris Greig

Chris qualified as a personal trainer in 2004 and cofounded Oakfields Personal Training in January 2011, alongside David Rees and Steve Threadgold.

During this time he has worked with a huge range of clientele with many different objectives – from weight loss and lower back pain to marathon running and trekking to Everest base camp. His focus is very technique based and he ensures all training is done with correct form and good posture, whenever possible.

Chris very much believes that the key to his clients successes lies in training them progressively to go beyond any pre-conceived limits and realise what they are truly capable of. “Many of us can do so much more than we realise – and when we get the chance to find our strengths it can be so rewarding – and this helps us stay motivated and continue to strive!”

Whilst encouraging his clients to find enjoyment in exercise and take up new activities, he has helped many to achieve their goals: “It is essential that all goals are viewed as long term, a way of life, and not as a quick fix – it must be a lifestyle change and something you fully commit to”.

Chris also places enormous importance on his clients diet and nutrition, as a way to further enhance their performance and improve general wellbeing. “We must remember to eat to suit our lives and our level of activity. Modern civilisation has led us to a diet heavy in refined carbohydrates and sugar and this is a path to ill health and low energy. There is so much conflicting advice out there and I aim to simplify this for my clients as much as I can to help them maintain a healthy weight, gain the most from their training and generally feel better”.

I love the freedom running gives you and it’s so accessible; I believe everyone should have a go at it. It’s a great way of maintaining good cardiovascular fitness and staying strong. Providing you build up your distance slowly and stay supple it’s something we can all do and enjoy!
